Anima Carioca is a project centred on a genre of Brazilian popular music called “Choro”. The repertory involves music of the most influential Choro composers, between them Pixinguinha, Chico Barque, Jacob do Bandolim, Guinga. We arrange and improvise on the original music, giving a unique musical experience to the audience, overwhelmed by a mix of sweetness and latin rhythm given by the clarinet and the guitar.
The two musicians are differentiated by the type of studies that led them to discover the traditional Brasilian music:
Mirco Bussi – Master degree in Clarinet obtained with honours in the Conservatory of Piacenza (Italy), having studied M° Paolo Beltramini (Solo Clarinet of Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana). He was awarded a scholarship with which he studied with Wolfgang Meyer at the prestigious HFM of Karlsruhe,(D).He won First Prize in national and international competitions such as: “Concorso Nazionale di Città S.Angelo (Italy)”, “Concorso Internazionale “Pablo Barasso” (Italy)”, “Borsa di studio “Soncino”(Italy)”. He collaborates with several orchestras.
Fabio Selvini – Guitarist, graduated from Lizard school in Fiesole, Italy, with honors and Super Tutor Award and from CPM Academy in Milan. He studied with the most acclaimed Italian guitarist, like P. La Pietra, P. Nobile, M. Quaini, C. Bazzari, G. Cocilovo, F. Nuzzolese, L. Ballabio, M. Aliffi, T. Macelloni and many others. He is continuing his jazz studies, meanwhille teaching. He collaborate with several international musicians and jazz band.
